WYNTER FLORES OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, October 5 through Tuesday, October 11. It is the second consecutive week Flores has earn GOTW honors. SCAC Golf Release (Week 5)
Playing at The Quarry Golf Club in her hometown of San Antonio, Flores fired rounds of 73 and 71 while navigating the par 71, 5,792 yard course and posted a 144 (+2), two shots clear of the field, to earn medalist honors at the Alamo City Classic and claim her first collegiate tournament championship. The senior led the 34-player field in birdies with six and was the only player to finish the par fours with an even par score.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Alejandra Sanchez De la Fuente Molino of Trinity earned a runner-up finish at the Alamo City Classic, firing a pair of 73s to finish at 146 (+4) while leading the Tigers to the team title. She was tops in par five scoring, navigating the scoring holes with a cumulative score of -1. Junior Ryleigh Erickson of Southwestern led the Pirates to a runner-up team finish with a two-day total of 156 (75-76, +9) - good for third place among individuals - at the Alamo City Classic. Erickson was tops in par three scoring and the only player under par at -1. Sophomore Emma Luna of St. Thomas paced the Celts at the Alamo City Classic with rounds of 78 and 76 for a two-day total of 154 (+12). She finished in fifth place and led the 34-person field in total pars with 24. Sophomore Kimberly Burch of Dallas and junior Sara Salido of Schreiner each finished with a 155 (+13) and among a group of golfers tied for sixth. Burch had rounds of 77 and 78 while Salido had a first-round 80 before rebounding with a 75.
