Jordan Arce, Trinity University, Pitcher of the Week (Week 4)

JORDAN ARCE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior right-hander from Thousand Oaks, Calif., has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 24 through Sunday, March 2. SCAC Softball Release - Week 4

Arce led Trinity's softball team to a 5-0 weekend at home that included a three-game SCAC sweep of Dallas, as well as a Sunday afternoon doubleheader sweep of Howard Payne. Arce went 2-0 in two appearances against Dallas over the weekend, totaling 10 strikeouts over 8.0 innings of work, and allowing just one run (unearned) on two hits. Arce started game one against the Crusaders, recording six strikeouts and allowing just one unearned run on one hit over 4.0 innings. She came back in relief during game two of the series, striking out four batters in 4.0 shutout innings during which she allowed just one hit. Arce recorded her 200th strikeout in the second appearance against Dallas, becoming the ninth Trinity pitcher to reach that milestone. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior left-hander Emma Shepherd of Centenary helped lead the Ladies to a series sweep at Ozarks over the weekend with a sensational performance in the circle as she went 2-0 with an 0.66 ERA in three appearances. In 10.2 innings pitched, she allowed just one earned run and six hits with five walks and 10 strikeouts. Shepherd worked a season-high 6.1 innings on Saturday in her first start of the season and struck out four to record her second win of the weekend after picking up one in game two of a DH on Friday. Senior right-hander Amanda White of Texas Lutheran tossed a one-hit shutout in the Bulldogs' 9-0 run-rule victory over Carnegie Mellon. White allowed just three base runners in five innings. Senior pitcher Baylee Fulps of McMurry worked 5.0 innings, allowing four hits and no hits while striking out five in Friday's 8-0 blanking of Schreiner. Fulps picked up the win, her first of the season. Senior left-hander Hailey Arrington of Southwestern pitched 5.1 innings, allowed three hits with two strikeouts and allowed zero runs in the series finale against Austin College. She came in with the score tied 4-4 and shut the 'Roos the rest of the way in the 8-4 Pirates' win. First-year pitcher Karlee Mathis of Concordia (Texas) put in a pair of stellar performances as she earned two wins in as many appearances last week. In game one of a doubleheader against Hanover, Mathis stepped in with the Tornados trailing 2-1 and only allowed three runners on base and no earned runs in 2.2 innings as CTX earned the come-from-behind 6-2 win. She earned her second win in a complete game 9-2 conference win against hot-hitting St. Thomas. In total, Mathis worked 9.2 innings and allowed 11 hits, one walk, and two earned runs with a 1.45 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Senior left-hander Morgan Haupt of Ozarks struck out four over 3.0 innings in a relief appearance against Centenary. For the week, she tossed 9.0 innings, allowing four earned runs while striking out six and walking two.
