MADDOX MCDONALD OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior outfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Co-Hitter of the Week of the Week for games played from Monday, April 7 through Sunday, April 13. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 10
McDonald powered Trinity to a three-game SCAC weekend series sweep against Centenary last weekend. McDonald was on fire last weekend, batting .538 (7-for-13) with three doubles and a home run, scoring four runs and piling up a whopping 10 RBI in the three games. He started with two hits and four RBI in the opener, then had two more hits and his home run in the first game of Saturday's DH. McDonald finished with his best performance of the weekend, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs, scored, and four RBI to lead the Tigers to an 18-7 victory.
McDonald shares this week's honor with Austin College sophomore Desmond Smalls.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore first baseman Alex Miller of Centenary was outstanding at the plate for the Diamond Gents over the weekend at Trinity as he finished 6-11 (.545) with a .583 OBP and slugged .818. Miller had three RBI, two doubles, and had two hits in all three game of the series. He drew one walk and did not strike out all weekend. Senior third baseman Eric Garcia of Concordia produced a team-best .438 batting average with four stolen bases in a quartet of games for the Tornados last week. In the midweek matchup against UT Dallas, he went 3-5 with two stolen bases and a run scored. Garcia lifted Concordia to an SCAC series win over Dallas on the road, posting a .364 average with a double and one RBI in three games. Senior infielder Nolan Scherencel of McMurry hit .364 (4-for-11) with seven RBI, one double, one triple and two runs scored to help lift the War Hawks to a series win over TLU last weekend. Junior infielder Langdon Townsend of Ozarks went 5-for-10 (.500) with two RBI and two doubles over three games against St. Thomas. Townsend also scored four runs and homered once. First year catcher Ryan Ratajczak of St. Thomas was outstanding at the plate last week, leading the Celts to an SCAC series win on the road at Ozarks. He hit .455 across three games with five hits, including a double and a home run. He added an RBI and a walk while posting an .818 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage. Junior infielder Chase Bourgeois of Texas Lutheran hit .444 (4-for-9) with two doubles, one triple and one RBI in a three game SCAC series against McMurry last weekend .
