Jon Talley, University of Dallas, Hitter of the Week (Week 2)

JON TALLEY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a senior outfielder from Pineville, La., has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Saturday, February 14 through Sunday, February 20. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 2

Talley propelled the Crusaders to a 2-1 record last week in non-conference action with an outstanding performance at the plate. He batted .800, going 8-for-10 with 10 RBI, five runs scored, two home runs, two doubles and one walk. His 16 total bases led to an impressive 1.600 slugging percentage and finished the week with an .857 on-base percentage.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior first basemen Preston Ludwick of Centenary was red hot this past week for the Diamond Gents as he hit .471 (8-17) with seven RBI. Ludwick, batting .375 overall this season, posted a pair of three-hit games and drove in two runs in a game three times. He amassed 13 total bases, hit two doubles, one home run, walked twice, and only struck out once in four games. Sophomore outfielder Maxwell Mims of Southwestern was outstanding in the Pirates opener last week, hitting 2-for-5 with a pair of triples, three RBIs, and a run scored. He followed that up with a 1-for-2 performance in the following game as North Park pitched around him, drawing three walks, stealing two bases, and scoring two runs. For the week, Mims posted a 1.000 slugging percentage, .636 on-base percentage, and .429 batting average. Junior infielder Randy Huerta of Texas Lutheran had a productive series against No. 25 Texas-Dallas - hitting his first home run of the season, batting .417 on the weekend and stealing five bases. Junior third baseman MJ Metz of Trinity was instrumental in the Tigers' second victory over a top-ten opponent in last weekend's Birmingham-Southern College Classic as he posted three extra-base hits on the No. 9 Washington University (MO) Bears. The corner infielder was shifted to clean-up on the final day and drove in a run in each of his first two at-bats to keep Trinity ahead early on. Metz spent the first two contests of the weekend as the lead-off man, drew three walks and stole a base in that role for Trinity's win over No. 7 Birmingham-Southern.
