JOY AREOLA OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Tomball, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 11 through Sunday, March 17. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 3
Areola put together a pair of top seven finishes last weekend at the Wes Kittley Invitational hosted by Abilene Christian University. She set a new season best in the triple jump with a mark of 11.49m, good enough to finish third. Areola then took home seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.02m. Both her marks are currently tops in the SCAC, and her triple jump effort is currently ranked fifth in all of NCAA Division III.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First year Josephine Louis of Colorado College took home third in the high jump at the Emory Spring Break Classic last weekend, clearing 1.55m. Her mark is currently second best in the SCAC this year. Additionally, Louis competed in the pole vault, finishing ninth with a jump of 3.00m.
