Minter led the Trinity women's basketball team to three straight road wins in California last weekend, defeating Whitter, Redlands, and Claremont. Minter averaged 20.0 points per game over the three contests, shooting 56.4 percent (22-of-39) from the field, 38.9 percent (7-of-18) from three-point range, and 75.0 percent (9-of-12) from the foul line. She also averaged 4.3 rebounds per game, 3.3 assists per game, and 3.3 steals per game. Minter began the week by hitting back-to-back three-pointers in the fourth quarter to cut the Whittier lead to just one point with under six minutes to play, helping to lead a rally from a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to win the game. Two nights later against Redlands, she had a career-high 27 to lead another comeback. Down 11 in the third quarter, Minter and the Tigers came all the way back for a six-point win. Minter scored 14 of her 27 points in the final quarter, and in fact, scored the final 14 points for the entire Trinity team in the game. She also had five rebounds and six steals in the game, committing just one turnover as she shot 9-of-14 overall and 7-of-10 at the foul line against the Bulldogs.
Junior forward Brooklyn Matthews of Austin College had a big game in the team's lone contest of the week, posting a double-double with 12 points and 16 boards while adding two assists and three blocks and shooting 54.5 percent from the field in a 17-point win over LeTourneau. First-year forward Shyanne Phillips of Centenary had a big week for the Ladies as she averaged a double-double with 11.0 PPG and 10.0 RPG, scoring in double figures in all three contests and totaled three steals, two assists, and blocked a shot while averaging 22.0 minutes/game. Last Tuesday at home against the Mississippi University for Women (MUW) Owls, she had an impressive double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds in 30 minutes. Senior center Zoë Tomlinson of Colorado College averaged a double-double in the Tigers’ successful weekend in Minnesota. The Tigers won the Twin Cities Invitational after Tomlinson averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. The senior grabbed a season-high 15 boards on Friday against Simpson and scored 18 points. She capped the weekend with 15 points and eight boards against Macalester. Tomlinson also had three blocks. Senior guard Adryan Alvarez of Dallas continued her outstanding season, scoring 18 points on 45.5 percent shooting, dished out four assists and grabbed two rebounds in a tough nine-point loss to LeTourneau on Saturday. Junior guard Kylie Flippin of McMurry averaged 17.5 points on 44.8 percent shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game as the War Hawks split a pair of non-conference contests to open the 2024-25 campaign. Sophomore guard Abby Beene of Ozarks was outstanding last week in leading the Eagles to a 2-0 week with wins versus Lyon at home and Hendrix on the road. Beene averaged 22.0 points on 53.3 percent shooting, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. She was on fire from distance, hitting 55.6 percent from three, going 10-for-18 from long range. Junior guard Tamia Moody of Schreiner averaged 11.0 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game in three contests last week for the Mountaineers. First-year guard Emma Flores of Southwestern led the Pirates to a 1-1 mark last weekend at the Ken Schumann invitational, averaging 12.0 points, 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. In the Pirates’ win over Pacific, Flores poured in 12 points, dished out three assists and grabbed two rebounds. Junior guard Angelina Sotelo of Texas Lutheran made her first two starts of the season and averaged 14.5 points per game to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 weekend with wins over Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound on the road. She also added four rebounds, two assists and one steal per game.
