Anderson led the No. 8/14 Trinity women's basketball team to a pair of road wins to open SCAC play over the weekend, defeating both Southwestern and Texas Lutheran. Anderson averaged 22.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game over the two wins, hitting 55.2 percent (16-of-29) from the field and 80 percent (12-of-15) from the free throw line. She opened with 17 points and seven rebounds in just 28 minutes against Southwestern, but saved her best performance for Saturday night. Anderson finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds in the overtime win over Texas Lutheran. With Trinity down two and less than four seconds on the clock, Anderson dropped in a buzzer-beating layup to send the game into overtime.
First year guard Lexi Martin of Austin College had a strong weekend as the 'Roos split with Centenary and St. Thomas, scoring 16 points in each game while shooting 53.8 percent from beyond the arc (7-of-13). She added 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.0 steal-per-game. Sophomore guard Amiyah Barrow of Centenary had an impressive week for the Ladies as she averaged 12.3 points per game and reached double figures in all three of Centenary's games. She averaged 39.3 minutes/game and played 40 minutes twice. She has now scored in double figures in seven of nine games this season and done so in five-consecutive games. Barrow totaled 20 rebounds, six steals, 12 assists, a blocked shot, and was 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and 6-8 from the free throw line for the week. Junior guard Demauria Miles of Schreiner averaged an impressive 21.7 points per game to help lead the Mountaineers to a 1-2 record last week, including the first SCAC win of the year over Southwestern on the road on Saturday. Miles connected on 50 percent of her shots and added 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Sophomore guard Audrey Hernandez of St. Thomas was a force for the Celts posting an impressive 58.3 shooting percentage in two SCAC games last weekend. She impressed with seven three pointers and an average of 11.5 points per game including 17 St. Thomas’ first SCAC win of the season over Austin College on Saturday. Defensively she also nabbed seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Junior guard Kailee Mulkey of Texas Lutheran averaged 17.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game over TLU's 2-1 week as she continues to lead the Bulldogs to their best start in program history. She poured in 22 points in a half of play against Concordia (one shy of career-high) and set career-high twice in assists with seven against both Schreiner and Trinity. Currently Mulkey stands sixth in scoring (12.7), fifth in rebounding (6.8) and tied for third in assists (3.7) in the SCAC.
