MAGGIE SHIPLEY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior guard from Arlington, Va., has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 14 through Sunday, February 20. (Women's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 15)
Shipley continued her steady scoring output last week to lead the Tigers to the sixth undefeated regular season in league history with road victories over Schreiner and Dallas. The Arlington, Virginia-native posted a nine-for-10 clip Sunday against the Crusaders, just the third time a Trinity player has reached 90 percent on 10 attempts in a single game in team history. Shipley went 13-of-16 from the field overall last week for a 15.5 points per game average all while averaging just 22 minutes per contest. On the week, Shipley also added 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 81.3 percent from the field.
First-year guard Dymon Drumgo of Centenary finished the season strong for the Ladies as she scored 13 in the regular-season finale at Texas Lutheran on Saturday after she scored a career-high 14 points in the loss at Southwestern on Friday. Drumgo played 29 minutes against TLU and was 5-8 overall from the floor and 3-4 from the free throw line. She had two rebounds and reached double figures for the fourth time this season. First-year forward Zoe Tomlinson of Colorado College came off the bench to lead CC to a 63-44 victory at St. Thomas in Saturday’s regular-season finale. Tomlinson posted game highs of 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots in only 20 minutes to help the Tigers extend their winning streak to seven games and sweep the season series against the Celts. She went 8-for-12 from the floor to raise her overall field-goal percentage to .525, which ranks third in the SCAC. Tomlinson leads Colorado College and ranks fourth in the conference averaging 8.2 rebounds per game. First-year guard Nylah Raines of Schreiner closed out the regular season with 18 points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal in a 82-67 win over Dallas last week. First-year guard Ellie Ward of Southwestern stuffed the box score for the Pirates last week, averaging 16 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in 32 minutes per game on 46.2 percent shooting, including 33.3 percent on three 3-pointer attempts per game. She scored 18 points on 50 percent shooting and grabbed seven rebounds in Southwestern's win over Centenary.
