Salony shares this week's honor with James Settles of Colorado College.
Salony picked up his first individual collegiate victory as he led the Tiger men to a win with a 20-point score on Saturday morning at the Southwestern Showdown. Despite a technically-challenging course along with hot and humid conditions, Salony was able to power across the line ahead of a field of nearly 70 competitors, missing his personal-best time by just 0.2 seconds.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior James Settles of Colorado College paced the Tigers for the second consecutive meet, placing 26th at the 2022 Roadrunners Invitational in Denver, Colo., with a time of 24:55 for the 7.8 kilometer race. The race took place at 5,300 feet above sea level. Sophomore Carlos Cura of Texas Lutheran ran a personal best of 27:50.1 to lead the Bulldogs and take 11th place overall at the Southwestern Showdown.
