VICTOR ZAMBRANO OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a first-year swimmer from Schertz, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Friday, October 4 to Sunday, October 13. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 1)
Zambrano won three individual events over the weekend as the men's team split wins with Centenary. The freshman won the 100 back (58.49), 200 back (2:07.71) and 1000 free (10:52.38), setting a personal best in the 1000. He was also part of the winning 200 free (1:32.50) and 200 medley relay (1:44.98) winning teams.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Adam Stelly of Centenary had an impressive collegiate debut for the Gents in a pair of home meets over the weekend against McMurry as he won the 200 IM (2:08.22) and was runner-up in the 100 free (50.73) in Friday's season-opening meet and was part of the team that won the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3:47.96. On Saturday, Stelly won the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.55) and earned a top-five finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.30) as he was fourth. Sophomore Lucas Baldo of St. Thomas won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.18 in the Celts' dual meet against Loyola (La.).
