Hailey Coleman, Trinity University, Player of the Week (Week 8)

HAILEY COLEMAN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior center from Kansas City, Mo., has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 20 through Sunday, January 2. (Women's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 8)

Coleman led the Tiger women's basketball team to a pair of home wins over the holiday break, extending the team's winning streak to seven. Coleman notched a pair of double-doubles in home wins over Worcester State University (Mass.) and LeTourneau University in the final two games before the end of the calendar year. She averaged 22.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game for the week, connecting on 21-of-33 (63.6%) shots in her two games. Coleman began her dominating week with 21 points and 10 rebounds, hitting 10-of-18 from the field, and playing 33 minutes without committing a turnover or a foul. With the game tied 66-66 with 6:42 remaining, Coleman scored eight of Trinity's final 10 points to lead the Tigers to the 76-69 victory. She followed that performance up with 23 points and 13 rebounds just 24 hours later, shooting 11-for-15 from the floor in just 28 minutes of action. Coleman also picked up three blocks in each game.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior guard Anna Fanelli of Colorado College tied the SCAC single-game record with 15 assists and became the fifth player in CC history to dish out 300 or more in her career as the Tigers rolled to a 102-62 victory over Dallas last Friday. Fanelli also scored 11 points to complete her second double-double of the season and the fifth of her career. With Fanelli directing the CC offense, seven different players finished with double-digit points. Colorado College reached the 100-point mark for the first time in Katherine Menendez's six-year tenure as head coach and the first time since the Tigers defeated Johnson & Wales University, 103-19, on Feb. 10, 2007. Freshman guard Adryan Alvarez of Dallas averaged 14.5 points on 38.1 percent shooting, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as the Crusaders split a pair of SCAC contests last week. In Dallas’ seven-point victory over St. Thomas on Sunday, Alvarez led all scorers with 15 points, which included 42.9 percent from beyond the arc. Sophomore guard Hayden Morin of St. Thomas scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 63-56 SCAC loss to Dallas last Sunday.
