CAT PATTERSON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior right-hander from West Columbia, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 21 through Sunday, March 27. SCAC Softball Release - Week 8
Patterson earned a 2-1 record in the circle last weekend, taking on a majority of the workload in the circle for the Tigers in an SCAC series win over Schreiner. The senior tossed 18.2 innings and recorded an ERA of 1.88 and struck out four hitters. The highlight performance of the weekend was when the West Columbia native tossed a one-hit complete game shutout. Patterson retired 11 straight batters after surrendering a hit in the second inning.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year pitcher Katelyn Moss of Centenary tossed a complete-game shutout in the Ladies' 3-0 non-conference win over the Miss. Univ. for Women last Saturday afternoon to improve to 3-2 on the season. The rookie lowered her team-best ERA to 3.31 and recorded her second complete game of the season. She scattered eight hits, walked one, and struck out a pair. Senior pitcher Karina Campo of Dallas had another solid week in the circle for the Crusaders, posting an ERA of 1.00 across two complete game wins. She has a 1.40 ERA over her last three games, dating back to last Sunday's loss against St. Thomas. On thew week she scattered just two earned runs in 14 innings and struck out two batters. Senior Bri Wodtke of Schreiner struck out six batters in her only appearance last weekend for the Mountaineers. She scattered six hits and allowed just two earned runs in seven innings of work. First-year pitcher Madison Vela of Southwestern continued her strong rookie season, throwing a complete-game shutout against Trinity last weekend, leading the Pirates to a 4-0 victory. Vela struck out one and limited the Tigers to just four hits in seven innings of work. Senior pitcher Lindsey Longuet of St. Thomas went 1-1 last week, earning a win over non-conference foe McMurry. In total, Longuet struck out five and allowed four earned runs in 8.2 innings of work in her two appearances last week. Senior Cat Patterson of Trinity appeared in four games last week in the circle and pitched to a 1-2 record. In 25 innings pitched, the senior only surrendered 12 earned runs. Patterson's highlight appearance came during the series finale of the Southwestern matchup. Patterson threw a complete game and struck out five batters. The ace earned her sixth win of the season and helped the Tigers improve to 4-2 in conference play.
