JOSH FRY OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior from Bethesda, Md., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, April 4 through Sunday, April 10. (SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 6)
Fry placed fourth in the 800 meters at the CU Invitational with a time of 1:53.22. He leads the conference in the 800 and is currently ranked ninth on the national list.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Andrae Gibson of Southwestern won his flight in the 400-meter dash, placing fifth overall with a personal-best time of 49.75 at the University of Incarnate Word Invitational. First-year DeVante' Jack of Centenary posted the top individual finish of the day for the Gents as he ran a PR time of 1:58.00 in the 800 meters to place 11th at the East Texas Invitational hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce. First-year BJ Stewart of Trinity ran a new personal best in the open 100 at the UIW Invitational. His time of 10.72 claims the top spot in the conference, is second all-time in school history and places him 21st in the country. He also ran on the second leg in the 4x100. That team has the top time in the conference and is fourth in the country. First-year Jhancarlos Carpio of St. Thomas ran his personal best at the Incarnate Word Invitational, clocking a 1:59:59 in 800 meters to place 21st overall amongst D1 and D3 competition. Sophomore James Latour of Dallas crushed his PR by over two minutes in the 10,000 meters, crossing the tape in a time of 37:27.50.
