CHARLIE WAGNER OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior midfielder from Atlanta, Ga., has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week from Monday, October 9th through Sunday, October 15th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 7)
Wagner led the Tiger defensive effort from his defensive midfielder position last weekend, limiting Southwestern and Texas Lutheran to just 12 shots, three on target in a pair of key home SCAC victories. Additionally, he chipped in offensively, assisting on all three of Colorado College’s goals, the first three assists of his career. Wagner’s defensive efforts helped lift Colorado College to a tie atop the SCAC table and a perfect 4-0 start in league play for the first time since 2018.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior goalkeeper Casey Clemo of Centenary had a big weekend in net as the Gents posted a 1-0-1 record in SCAC action, defeating Dallas and earning a draw against Austin College. He finished with 18 saves, highlighted by a 12 save performance in the draw against the ‘Roos. Clemo is now second in the SCAC with 45 saves on the year and his 12 save effort is tied for the most saves in a single contest this year. Junior midfielder Diego Lazo of St. Thomas was the heart of a Celt defense that allowed just one goal in two SCAC wins last weekend. Lazo limited opponent’s chances and chipped in offensively, scoring a goal in a win over Austin College on Friday. Senior defender Pieter Blank of Trinity helped the Tigers to a 3-1 SCAC win at Schreiner that keeps TU tied atop the SCAC table with 12 points. He scored the eventual game-winning goal in the first half, helping Trinity erase an early 1-0 deficit for good.
