GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The third-seed Colorado College opened play at the Southern College Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship with a 6-0 quarterfinal victory over the sixth-seed Texas Lutheran University Thursday afternoon at the Marvin D. Colorado College upped its record to 8-11 and will face the winner of second-seeded Trinity University and seventh-seeded Austin College at 9 am Saturday morning in the semifinals. Texas Lutheran finishes the 2023 campaign with a 4-14 record.
CC opened Friday's quarterfinal by sweeping all three doubles matches, highlighted by the No. 2 doubles team of Aiden Little and Lucas Pastor who cruised to an 8-1 victory over TLU's Brady Smith and Jackson Leslie.
Andrew Kaelin made it 4-0 CC when he won his No. 4 singles match, 6-1, 6-1, over the Bulldogs' Austin Hudson, and Little clinched the match for the Tigers with a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Cash Herrera. That match narrowly finished prior to Nick Bishop's 6-2, 6-0 triumph over TLU's Aaron Salinas at No. 6 singles.
