COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- McKenzee Gertz emented her place among Colorado College women's basketball's all-time greats by capping her career with a pair of national honors.

Gertz was named a third-team All-American by D3hoops.com, the national website that specializes in the coverage of Division III basketball, and was one of 19 players named to the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Collegiate All-Star Team presented by the WBCA.

"McKenzee being named an All-American is truly special – all the more when considering how tirelessly and selflessly she has worked at her craft throughout her career," head coach Katherine Menendez said. "Mac has been invested in her teammates and in the success of our Colorado College women's basketball program since her first day on campus as a student-athlete.

"Her contributions being recognized on the national level support what we have all known for quite some time – that Mac is a special talent. Her work ethic, humility, and certainly her accomplishments will be celebrated by our CC athletics family for many years to come."

A native of Fort Collins, Colo., Gertz became the program's second first-team All-American, joining CC Hall of Famer Melanie Auguste who received the honor from Women's DIII News at the conclusion of the 2008-09 season.

Gertz previously was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned a spot on the D3hoops.com all-South Region first team.

Gertz, who led CC to a 7-3 record and the program's first-ever appearance in the championship game of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament, and Auguste also are the only Tigers to be named SCAC Player of the Year.

The senior guard also is the only player in program history to earn first-team all-SCAC honors three times.

Gertz ranked among the conference leaders in several statistical categories. She was fifth averaging 13.8 points, tied for eighth at 7.8 rebounds and tied for ninth averaging 1.8 three-point baskets. Gertz also was second with a .852 free-throw percentage and seventh averaging 33.7 minutes per contest.

Despite being denied the opportunity to play a full schedule during her senior season, Gertz finished her career ranked No. 2 in program history with 206 three-point baskets, No. 6 with 735 rebounds, No. 8 with 1,361 points and No. 9 with 142 steals.
