Colorado College Captures Fourth Straight SCAC Women's Lacrosse Title

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado College won its fourth consecutive SCAC Women's Lacrosse Championship with a dominating 24-8 victory over Southwestern University on Sunday afternoon. Official Championships Website | Box ScorePostgame Interview | Photo Album 

Sophomore midfielder Caroline Shay, the championship's Offensive MVP, struck for a season-high six goals, including four in the first half to help the Tigers take control of the game.

Abigail Turner, the game's Defensive MVP, caused one turnover and anchored the CC defense that limited the Pirates to less than half of their season average of 16.07 goals per game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Southwestern got the scoring started first when Emma Pertuit found the back of the net at early in the first period. The Pirates held their own against the Tigers as Colorado College held just a 6-4 lead after one period.
  • Colorado College took a 12-5 lead into the locker room at halftime, highlighted by a pair of goals each from Caroline Shay and Peyton Murphy
  • The Tigers put the game out of reach in the third and fourth periods as Shay added two more goals in the third while Delia Freliech scored a pair of goals in the fourth to extend the Colorado College lead to 20-8 with 9:11 to play in the game.
