Rosie Braley, Colorado College, Player of the Week (Week 2)

ROSIE BRALEY OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore forward from Independence, Mo., has been named SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Friday, January 22 through Saturday, January 23. 

Braley averaged 15.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game to lead Colorado College to a pair of victories at Trinity in CC’s first two games of the season. During Friday’s 57-55 victory, Braley scored on a layup with 2.3 seconds remaining to give Colorado College its first win over Trinity since Feb. 12, 2012, in San Antonio. Braley led Colorado College with 14 points and completed her third career double-double with 10 rebounds. In Saturday’s 64-61 overtime victory, Braley scored the first four points in the extra period to give CC a lead it would not relinquish. She finished the game with 16 points and nine rebounds. Shooting 50 percent from the field on the weekend, she also added three assists, one block and one steal in the two wins.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard Kacie West of Austin College averaged 17.0 points on 50 percent shooting, including 44.4 percent from long distance. West added 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals over the course of the weekend to keep Austin College unbeaten. Junior guard Kristen Stuart of Centenary averaged 11.5 points and 6.0 rebounds over the weekend for the Ladies, including a career-high 17 points in a loss to Schreiner on Saturday. Senior guard Amber Turner of Dallas averaged 14 points in two outings at home versus St. Thomas this past weekend. She shot 52.9 percent (9-17) with five treys in eight attempts to help reach double figures in points both games. Turner combined for seven steals, with at least three in both contests. She added nine rebounds and six assists overall. Senior post Sydney Williams of Schreiner averaged a double-double last weekend, averaging 12.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game to help the Mountaineers jump out to their first 4-0 start in SCAC play in program history. Junior guard Lauren Fulenwider of Southwestern broke the Pirate’s record for most 3-pointers in a game, hitting 8-on-14 attempts against Austin College. For the weekend, she averaged 21 points and four rebounds per game, shooting 44 percent from behind the 3-point line. Sophomore guard Micayla Hamilton of St. Thomas averaged 25.5 points per game on 47.6 percent shooting last weekend to help the Celts grab their first two wins of the season. Hamilton also added 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists per contest as well.
