Ben Anastos, Colorado College, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 6)

BEN ANASTOS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a freshman keeper from Concord, Mass., has been named the SCAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 29 through Sunday, April 4.

Anastos recorded double-digit saves in both games to lead Colorado College to a pair of victories on its second trip to the East Coast. During Friday's 18-16 victory at Southern Virginia, Anastos matched his season high of 18 saves, including 11 during the second half after SVU trimmed an eight-goal deficit second-quarter deficit to 11-8 after 30 minutes. During Sunday's 12-11 overtime victory at No. 5 Christopher Newport University, the program's first ever over a team ranked in the top five of the USILA Division III Poll, Anastos stopped 14 shots, including 10 in the first half when the Captains launched 25 of their 38 shots.

During the two-game road trip, Anastos helped CC's man-down unit go 6-for-6 killing its opponent's man-up opportunities. Anastos made eight saves in the 13-12 overtime loss to Division II Colorado Mesa University on March 29.

Junior face-off specialist Hudson Bearden of Southwestern set school records with 30 won faceoffs in 33 opportunities and 18 ground balls, helping the Pirates dominate possession in their 27-3 victory over Centenary.
