BILLY HUTCHISON OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior defenseman from Westport, Conn., has been named the SCAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 22 through Sunday, March 28.
Hutchison matched his season highs of three caused turnovers and three ground balls to lead the defensive effort in the Tigers' 16-5 victory over Southwestern. Hutchison's efforts helped CC limit the Pirates to 17 total shots, only 11 of which were on target. It marked the fourth time this season the Tigers held an opponent to five goals or fewer. Colorado College's man-down unit successfully killed all five of Southwestern's man-up opportunities that lasted a total of four minutes.
Hutchison leads the team with a career-high 10 caused turnovers and is tied for fourth with 16 ground balls.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore defender Will Thompson of Southwestern had seven ground balls and two caused turnovers in the Pirates' game against Colorado College. Sophomore defender Ethan Little of Centenary had one ground ball and one caused turnover in two matches against Colorado College over the weekend.
