Colorado College's Fry Named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for D3 Men's Cross Country

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – After leading the Colorado College Tigers to their eighth SCAC Cross Country team title last Saturday and earning the league’s Runner-of-the-Year honor, junior Josh Fry was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's National Athlete of the Week for NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country.

Fry is the second SCAC runner to be recognized at the national level this season as Southwestern's Noah Dennis took home the honor back in January

It was a three-man race for the individual title at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships this past weekend: Josh Fry of Colorado College, Ben Whittemore of Trinity and James Settles of Colorado College all had a claim to the crown throughout the proceedings at the University of Dallas Cross Country Course.

Fry ultimately pulled away late to win the crown in 26:35.6, just 0.5 seconds ahead of Whittemore, who finished runner-up. Settles ended up third and coupled with Fry’s low stick, Colorado College was able to put enough distance between itself and the rest of the teams in the field to defend its conference title. It marked the 12th time in the last 15 years the individual winner has come from Colorado College.

This is the first time in program history that an athlete from Colorado College has been named National Athlete of the Week during the cross country season.
