JAMES SETTLES OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore from Claremont, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Tuesday, September 7 through Sunday, September 12. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 2)
Settles led the Tigers to a third-place team finish last weekend at the Ted Castaneda Classic after finishing sixth individually. Settles crossed the line of the 8k course in a time of 26:18.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Thomas Lagarde of Dallas won the 2021 UD Cross Country Invitational with a 5k time of 17:37 on a technically challenging and hilly course. Freshman Jhancarlos Carpio of St. Thomas was outstanding in just his second career cross country meet, finishing 26th at the Nory Hersey Rice Invitational in a tough field comprised of runners across all divisions. Carpio crossed the line of the 6k course in a time of 20:22, a 3:24/k pace.
