BELLA SCOLA OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior midfielder from San Mateo, Calif., has been named the SCAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 21 through Sunday, March 27. (Women's Lacrosse Weekly Release - Week 6)
Scola led CC with eight goals and 10 points while helping the Tigers post a 2-1 record last week, which included career highs of six goals and seven points in Thursday's 22-5 victory at Hamline. The junior midfielder scored three goals and set up another as the CC attack exploded out of the gate to build an 8-1 first-quarter lead. Her six goals against the Pipers tied Tobin Lonergan for the team's high in a single-game this season, while her seven points is tied for second.
For the week, Scola scored on eight of 13 shots for a .615 percentage, and put 10 of her 13 shots on goal for a .769 clip. She now leads the team with a .562 shot percentage (18-for-32), ranks second with 18 goals and is fourth with 22 points.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Deanna Hames of Southwestern had nine goals and seven draw controls in three wins for the Pirates last week. She had four goals in both the Birmingham-Southern and Whitworth contests and was incredibly efficient with her shots, hitting on 50 percent (nine of 18) of her attempts on the week.
