Selected and voted on by member coaches of the WBCA in NCAA Division III, these student-athletes represent the most outstanding basketball players across America in their division.
Fanelli, a First Team All-SCAC honoree, enjoyed a record-breaking season during the 2021-22 campaign. She led the NCAA with 239 assists, setting both a new school and SCAC record. Fanelli is the first student-athlete in SCAC history to eclipse the 200-plateua mark for assists in a single season. On January 15th, Fanelli dished out 16 assists in a 79-53 home victory over Schreiner to set a new school and conference record for assists in a single game.
She also led the NCAA in assists per game with 8.9. That mark also breaks the old SCAC record of 7.5 which was set by Centre’s Leslie Baldwin during the 1995-96 season. Her 2.60 assists to turnover ratio was tops in the SCAC and finished eight in all of Division III. In addition to her facilitating efforts, Fanelli finished her junior season with 181 points and 28 total steals.
Fanelli guided the Tigers to back-to-back berths in the SCAC championship games, the first two in program history. With Fanelli running the show, the Tigers are 3-3 in the last three SCAC postseason games after going 3-8 in their previous 11.
This year's 16 victories are the most for the program since the 2008-09 team posted a 16-9 record. The last time CC won more than 16 games was the 1989-90 season when the Tigers posted a 17-9 record.
