In the same balloting, Bridget Hanley of Colorado College was named the conference’s Rookie-of-the-Year honors while CC head coach Susan Stuart was selected SCAC Coach-of-the-Year.

In just eight games, Beattie, a junior attack from Baltimore, Md., finished third in the league with 27 goals scored and 36 points, and her nine assists ranked fifth. She earned SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors in Week 6 when she netted a program-record tying eight goals in the team’s 23-10 victory over Southwestern on April 10 – the second-most goals by a conference player in any game this season. Possessing incredible stick skills and deceptive speed, Beattie also ranked second in the league in shots with 74 and third in caused turnovers with 15.  Her 18 goals and 24 points in conference play led all players this season.  Beattie earned Offensive MVP honors at this year’s SCAC Championship tournament, scoring four goals, and assisting on two more in the 21-7 victory over Southwestern.

Beattie is the first CC player to earn Attacker-of-the-Year honors but the second to earn top offensive honors. Grace Maloney was named Offensive Player-of-the-Year back in 2012.

Folliard, a sophomore defender from Austin, Texas, was voted a captain this season by her fellow teammates, and did an amazing job stepping into that leadership role. From being a traditional midfielder in 2020, Folliard was moved to a low defender role to help lead the Pirates’ young defensive unit this season. Southwestern averaged 9.33 caused turnovers and 24.67 ground balls per game – the latter being the fourth-highest single season total in SCAC history. Her 10 caused turnovers was good for fifth in the conference and her 21 ground balls placed her eighth. Folliard also pitched in offensively for the Pirates with eight goals scored and five assists.

Folliard is the first Southwestern women’s lacrosse player to earn SCAC Defender-of-the-Year honors.

Pertuit, a sophomore midfielder from Seabrook, Texas, scored 17 goals and assisted on nine more to total 26 points – with the latter two numbers both being good for fifth in the conference. Her 45 shots ranked fourth in the conference. Pertuit led the SCAC in ground balls (82), draw controls (107) and caused turnovers (20), with her 82 ground balls representing the second-highest single-season total in league history. She bookended the season with SCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week awards in Week 1 and Week 8.

Pertuit’s selection as Midfielder-of-the-Year represents a first for the Southwestern women’s lacrosse program.

CC’s Hanley, a first-year attacker from Alexandria, Va., had 10 goals and a league-high 19 assists in her first season with the Tigers. Her 2.375 assists per game is the third highest for a single season in league history. Her 29 points was good for fourth in the league and was tops among all first-year players. Hanley earned SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors in Week 7 when she totaled 11 points, including eight assists, in Colorado College’s 22-0 victory over Dallas on April 18. The eight assists represented the second-most in a single match in SCAC history and the 11 points established a new program record. She was also the league’s Offensive POTW in Week 5.

Hanley’s selection as Rookie-of-the-Year marks the third time overall and second consecutive ROTY honor for the CC program. Maggie O’Donnell was voted ROTY in 2019 and Elise Buchard earned a share of the Newcomer of the Year honor in 2012.

Colorado College head coach Susan Stuart, the program’s first and only varsity head coach, guided the Tigers to a 6-2 overall record and the program’s third consecutive SCAC women’s lacrosse title as CC earned the 2021 conference crown with a 21-7 victory over Southwestern on May 2. During her 27-season tenure, the Tigers have posted a 281-126-1 (.690) overall record and made 11 appearances in the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship. This year’s COTY accolade marks the fourth time in her career she has earned SCAC Coach-of-the-Year honors, and she was named West Region Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association in 2001, 2004, 2005, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019. Entering the 2021 season, Stuart ranked sixth among active coaches with five or more seasons (at the Division III level) in career victories and 22nd in career winning percentage. All-time, for coaches with 10 or more years, she was 12th in total wins and tied for 22nd in winning percentage.
