KATE BRUSH OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior from Greenwich, Conn., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during meets swam Friday, October 21 to Saturday, October 22. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 3)
Brush led the Tigers this weekend, posting individual wins on both Friday at Trinity and Saturday at Southwestern. On Friday, Brush won the 100 fly (57.93), was second in 200 free (1:56.10) and split 25.89 fly on the medley relay. On Saturday, she swam a 57.0 fly split on the winning 400 medley relay, and went on to win the 200 fly (2:10.53).
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Neely Burns of Trinity had three wins in her first collegiate meet, opening the dual against Colorado College with a seven second victory in the 200 IM with a 2:09.00 - the third-fastest performance in Trinity history. Neely then won the 500 free by 18 seconds with a time of 5:13.00, and finished her evening with a 1:07.47 100 breaststroke, making her the fifth-fastest Tiger ever in the event. First-year Elise Samples of Southwestern was the first to the wall when leading off the Pirates' 400 medley relay and posted a 1:01.20 result in a second place finish. She anchored the 400 free relay with a split of 54.75, bringing home a first-place finish to wrap up the meet. Individually, Samples won the 200 backstroke with the fastest time in the conference this year at 2:10.99. Sophomore Madeline Vacula of Centenary continued her superb season, claiming three individual wins in the Ladies' non-conference dual meet against Millsaps. She swam the 200-yard backstroke in a winning time of 2:21.24, won the 200 IM (2:26.94), and the 1000 free in a time of 11:05.75.
