ZOË TOMLINSON OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior guard from New York, N.Y., has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 23 through Sunday, January 5. SCAC Women's Basketball Release (Week 8)

Tomlinson was essential to the Tigers' 2-0 outing at the D3Hoops.com Classic and a home conference victory over St. Thomas. The New York native averaged 21.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game. She grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds in back-to-back games against Susquehanna and New Paltz in Las Vegas. Tomlinson led the team with 26 points against the River Hawks on Dec. 28th, only to follow up with a 24-point outing against SUNY New Paltz. CC returned home to host St. Thomas to kick off the New Year and Tomlinson posted her seventh-straight double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. She is currently tied fourth in the nation with 14.1 rebounds per game and tied for third in the country with nine double-doubles.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Brooklyn Matthews of Austin College had a big impact as the 'Roos went 2-0 with a season series sweep of Dallas, averaging 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.0 assists-per-game while shooting 73.7 percent from the field. Matthews had her biggest game of the week in her return from injury, showing no rust with a 10-of-11 shooting performance for 20 points in a road win over the Crusaders. She followed that up with eight points and eight boards in a 67-43 win at home. Senior forward Destiny Mathews of Concordia helped lead the Tornados to a 2-0 week after a month-long hiatus from action. Mathews averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals, and 2.5 assists in the pair of games. She posted a game-highs of 27 points and five steals in an 82-49 win over Howard Payne. She then added 13 points, six rebounds and three steals in a 84-65 victory over LeTourneau. Sophomore guard Abby Beene of Ozarks averaged 18.0 points and 4.5 assists while hitting 85 percent from the free throw line to lead Ozarks to a 2-0 record. Beene hit a trio of three-pointers to finish with 20 points against Hendrix and dished out five assists in the win. She followed that performance with a 16-point outburst against Centenary to keep the Eagles undefeated in league play. Over two games, Beene made 12-of-14 from the free throw line, hit 40 percent from the three-point line and made 52 percent of her shots. Sophomore guard Macie Whitfield of St. Thomas had a strong performance over the weekend, averaging 11.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, highlighted by her third 20-plus point performance in her career when she scored 21 points against Colorado College on the road on Saturday. Junior forward Sarahi Jones of Texas Lutheran averaged a double-double for week including a 14 point, 19 rebound game against UMHB for her second career double-double, notching 14 points, a career-high 19 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. The 19 rebounds are the most for the Bulldogs since Lynn Lumpkin-Boozer's program record 27 rebounds against Sul Ross State in 2011 and the most by a Bulldog since joining the SCAC. The 19 rebounds also tie Sara Kainer and Katie Anderson for the fourth most in a single-game in program history and tie for the most rebounds in a single-game in the SCAC this season. Jones also scored a career-high 19 points in the second of two games against Southwestern. Senior guard Bailey Timmons of Trinity averaged 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game over the break, posting a career-high 20 points against third-ranked Illinois Wesleyan, and recording her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 boards against East Texas Baptist.
