SYDNEY RANKIN OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore from Portland, Ore., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 6 through Sunday, March 12. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 2
Rankin broke the school record in the 1500 last Saturday at the Oxy Distance Carnival & Spring Break Classic. She finished third in the race with a time of 4:37.11, surpassing the previous mark of 4:37.99, set by Annabel Arnott in 1995.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Sophia Sanchez of St. Thomas ran 19:18.68 to set a new team best for the season in the 5000m at the Oxy Distance Carinval & Spring Break Classic. Currently, that time places her in the top five in the SCAC in the event.
