BEN ANASTOS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a freshman goalkeeper from Concord, Mass., has been named the SCAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 15 through Sunday, March 21.
Anastos posted an 11.63 goal-against average and a .541 saves percentage while helping the Tigers post a 2-1 record last week. Anastos began the week by recording a season-high 18 saves during the 18-8 victory on Monday at CSU-Pueblo. In Friday's 10-8 win at St. Mary's (Ind.), which is receiving votes in the USILA Division III poll, Anastos made eight saves and made the crucial interception that allowed the Tigers to run out the clock. During Sunday's 19-3 loss at No. 4 Salisbury, Anastos made 14 saves.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior faceoff specialist Hudson Bearden of Southwestern had another dominant weekend in face-off opportunities, winning 36-of-46 attempts. His 0.773 face-off winning percentage leads the conference and is currently ninth in the nation. Freshman defender Noah Katz of Centenary had two ground balls and one caused turnover in the Gents' 20-3 loss to Hendrix on Thursday.
