ALYSSA TUNGGAL OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a first-year swimmer from Littleton, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during meets swam Monday, October 16 to Sunday, October 29. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 3)
Tunggal went a perfect 6-for-6 in the pool over the weekend, winning all six of her events in Friday and Saturday's double dual home meet against Southwestern.
On Friday, Tunggal posted victories in the 200 free (2:01.74), 200 fly (2:15.76), and split 1:00.71 on her fly leg of the winning 400 medley relay. On Saturday, she took top honors in the 100 fly (1:00.70), 400 IM (4:57.77), and 100 IM (1:02.87).
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior Madeline Vacula of Centenary recorded a trio of individual wins on Saturday to highlight an impressive performance by the Ladies against Millsaps College in a non-conference dual meet in Flowood, Miss. Vacula won the 200 back (2:24.82), 500 free (5:44.80), and 1000 free (11:39.30) and was also a member of the Ladies' team that finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (2:01.38). First-year Kelsy Elgar of St. Thomas was the highest-placing female Celt in each of her three events in Friday evening's mixed meet against Rice. In the 50 free, Elgar posted a time of 27.70, followed with a time of 59.78 in the 100 free and capped her day with a 2:11.73 in the 200 free. Sophomore Cass Levine of Austin College kicked her season off with four great swims against UT-Permian Basin on Oct. 21. Levine led the 'Roos with a third place finish in the 200 free (2:14.18) and finished second in both the 50 free (28.19) and 200 breast (2:58.04). Sophomore Elise Samples of Southwestern picked up a win in the 200 free against Colorado College on Saturday, touching first with a winning time of 2:01.83.
