Bayston averaged 20-points in a pair of crucial home wins last weekend as the Tigers claw for SCAC Tournament seeding, including a game-high 23 in the win over previously undefeated Trinity, 70-64. Bayston was strong in the second half against the Texas Tigers, scoring 15 of her 23 points after halftime. In addition to her work offensively, Bayston averaged 6.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.5 steals per game. Bayston’s efforts have helped lift CC to its current eight game SCAC winning streak, the longest such streak since the Tigers joined the SCAC for the 2007-08 season. Last year Colorado College ended the regular season on a seven-game conference winning streak, the program’s previous high mark until this year.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year forward Kyra Stokes of Centenary had an impressive weekend for the Ladies in road games at Dallas and Austin College. She scored in double figures in both contests including a game-high 12 points in a 62-58 win over the ‘Roos. Stokes averaged 11.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest and has now registered 10 or more points in six games this year. First-year guard Caroline Croft of Dallas was outstanding last weekend, leading the Crusaders to a pair of SCAC wins, knocking off Centenary on Friday, 73-59, and then defeating St. Thomas, 73-41, on Saturday. Croft averaged 15 points, six rebounds and five assists per game, highlighted by her career-high 22 points and six assists in the win over the Ladies. Sophomore guard Ravyn Ellis of St. Thomas led the Celts to a 1-1 week, highlighted by a monster 27-point, four rebound, three steals and one assist performance in a five point road victory last Friday against Austin College. Ellis connected on an impressive 50 percent from both the field (8-of-16) and from beyond the arc (2-of-4). Senior guard Addie Putnam of Trinity averaged 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game last week as the No. 1/2 Tigers split a pair of SCAC road games.
