CURTIS HALE OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore midfielder from Richmond, Va., has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Tuesday, September 6th through Sunday, September 11th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 2)
Hale controlled the midfield for CC last weekend, leading the Tigers to a perfect 2-0 record with wins over Austin College and Dallas in non-conference conference action. He and the Tigers limited the ‘Roos and Crusaders to just 10 total shots, with just three shots on target. Hale also chipped in offensively, scoring his first two career goals in a 4-0 win over Dallas, which included the game-winning mark.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior goalkeeper Jack Viles of Southwestern corralled eight saves last week, including two in posting his second shutout of the season. Sophomore midfielder Hamilton Estrada of St. Thomas continued his fantastic start to the year, securing the midfield run of play and helping to lift the Celts to a 2-0 week. Estrada and Celts limited their opponents to just eight shots on goal last week and posted their first shutout of the year in a win over Sul Ross St. Senior defender Pieter Blank of Trinity put in a solid performance last weekend on defense. He shut down numerous scoring chances and logged 136 minutes of action.
