A year after having to settle for runner-up status in the team competition, the CC Tigers left no doubt as to who the king of the SCAC esports mountain was this season, securing team titles in both Rocket League and Valorant as well as runner-up finishes in Apex Legends and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Colorado College finished the Showdown with 14 points in the team standings, followed by Concordia (Texas) University with nine. Hendrix College and Trinity University both finished with seven points to tie for third while Schreiner University and Austin College each totaled four points to finish in a tie for fifth. Rounding out the final team standings, Southwestern University was seventh with three points and McMurry University finished eighth with two points.

Over 180 students and coaches were on hand for this year's event, which was hosted at the $70 million, 130,000 square foot Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio. The Tech Port opened it's doors to the public in May of 2022 and the SCAC is the first college conference to host its esports championship at the facility, one of the most technologically advanced entertainment venues in the world.

This year, teams competed for league supremacy across five gaming formats: League of Legends, Valorant, Rocket League, Apex Legends and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, over the course of two fun-filled days.

In Saturday's first championship contested on the main stage, Hendrix swept Trinity, 3-0, in the best-of-five League of Legends final, earning the Warriors their first-ever team title in the game. Hendrix was runner-up in the event at the 2021 championships. Concordia (Texas) defeated Austin College, 2-1, in the bronze medal match. League of Legends bracket

Colorado College won its third straight Rocket League title, picking up this year's championship with a 4-0 sweep of Concordia (Texas) in the gold medal match. Austin College placed third in the double-elimination bracket and Hendrix was fourth. Rocket League bracket

Rounding out the team scoring, Hendrix finished with 73 points, last year's champion Concordia (Texas) was fifth with 69 points and Austin College followed with 55 points.

Trinity continued its dominance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, earning its fourth straight title in the title with a 1-0 victory over Colorado College in the championship match. The Texas Tigers had gone 6-0 in pool play and then defeated Austin College and CC on Saturday to take gold. Concordia (Texas) finished in third place at the conclusion of the final day double elimination bracket with Austin College taking fourth. Super Smash Bros. Valorant competition closed out Saturday's championship action and professional esport players Andrej "babybay" Francisty and Daniel "Rossy" Abedrabbo added to the day's excitement as the FaZe Clan team members served as guest casters for the opening game of the best-of-five title match between Colorado College and Southwestern.

Coming in as the top seeded team at last year's event and having to settle for a fourth-place finish, CC turned the tables and defeated the team in this year's title match that had upset them a year ago in the semifinals. The Tigers took Valorant gold with a 3-1 victory over the Pirates in the best-of-five final. Concordia (Texas) took the bronze with a 2-0 victory over Hendrix in the consolation final. Valorant bracket
