JAMES SETTLES OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior from Claremont, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Friday, September 30 through Saturday, October 1. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 5)
Settles finished 12th at the Ted Castaneda Classic 8K in a time of 25:11 in a meet that took place at 6,000 feet above sea level. Colorado College was the only DIII team at the meet that included DII powerhouses Adams State and Colorado School of Mines.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Ben Whittemore of Trinity moved into the top 10 in school history after finishing his 8K race at the Paul Short Invitational in 25:41.8 over the weekend. Whittemore broke his personal record by just over 46 seconds and moved up to eighth all-time at Trinity with the performance. First-year Micah Hampton of St. Thomas ran a 5:22 pace on the UIW Invitational 8K course in a finish that locked him at 53rd place against a field including Division I, II, and III programs.
