DALLAS, Texas -- Second-seeded and 37th-ranked Southwestern University advanced to the title match of the Southern College Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship with a 5-1 semifinal victory over third-seeded Colorado College Saturday evening on the Ruth & Ken Altshuler indoor courts at the Brookshire Family Pavilion on the campus of SMU. Official Website l Postmatch Interview | Photo Album

With the victory, Southwestern improves to 14-8 and will play Trinity University in tomorrow's championship match. First serve is tentatively scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.

Colorado College ends its season at 7-13.

After the two played a down-to-the-wire conference match on Sunday in the regular-season finale for the Tigers - a match Southwestern squeaked by with a 5-4 decision - the Pirates left little doubt to the outcome on Saturday evening with a coveted trip to the conference final on the line.

Southwestern took control early, sweeping all three doubles matches, highlighted by an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles by the duo of Oscar Roy and Joseph Snyman. The Pirates' Ryan Flanagan made it 4-0 and left his team one point away from the clinch with his 6-4, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles. CC's Aiden Little delayed the celebration with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles but soon thereafter, Bernado Clemente sealed the victory for Southwestern with his 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 5 line, sending the Pirates to the SCAC final for the ninth straight year.
