LUIS GREEN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Monterrey, Mexico, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, September 19th through Sunday, September 25th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 4)
Green continued his got streak to his senior season, scoring four goals and adding one assist for nine total points in a 2-1 week for the Bulldogs. Going back to last week, Green has now scored six goals in his last four fixtures. He opened the week with two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over Hardin-Simmons. Green the registered two more goals in a 3-1 win over Austin College last Friday. Green is now third all-time in SCAC history with 68 career goals, just five shy of tying the conference record of 73 set by Oglethorpe’s Will Lukow. His nine points on the week brings his career total to 147, current fourth most in league history.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Jaron Petreas of Centenary continued his stellar season over the weekend as he scored his team-leading fifth goal and tallied an assist in the Gents’ 3-3 tie against McMurry on Friday and then had another assist in a 2-2 tie versus UT-Dallas on Sunday. Senior forward Sajjan Singh of Colorado College scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Tigers to a 1-0-1 record last week in a pair of games in Minnesota last weekend. Junior forward Zaaron Gonzalez of Schreiner scored the lone goal for the Mountaineers in a 2-1 loss to ETBU last Sunday. Senior forward Ayomide Salako of St. Thomas scored twice and added and assist to lead the Celts to a pair of wins last week. Salako scored a brace in a 5-0 win over Hardin-Simmons and then added his assist in a 2-1 win over TLU on Sunday. Senior midfielder Chen Adjei of Trinity tallied five points on the weekend and was one goal shy of scoring a hat trick during Sunday's 3-0 win over Concordia. Adjei put four shots on goal over the weekend. Adjei scored the first and second goals of the Concordia match to help Trinity snap their three-match losing streak.
