Aspen Young, Colorado College, Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week (Week 8)

ASPEN YOUNG OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a first-year player from Niceville, Fla., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 17 through Sunday, March 23. SCAC Women's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 8

Young posted a perfect 4-0 singles record during CC's spring break trip to California last week. She won a pair of matches against ranked teams, a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 over Christine O'Brien of No. 22 Redlands and a 6-1, 7-5 triumph over Greta Stechschulte of No. 10 Amherst, also at No. 5. She also won two matches at the No. 4 position, including rallying for a 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Kylee Limpias of Cal Lutheran. She completed the week by defeating Chloe Wu of UC Santa Cruz, 6-4, 6-3.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior Trinity Levy of Trinity went 2-0 in singles play over the week, as the 10th-ranked Tigers went 1-2 overall against three ranked teams. Levy scored the only point of the match in the Tigers' 6-1 loss to #1 Chicago, winning 6-2, 7-5 from her fifth position. She came back on Saturday against #14 Tufts and earned another line five singles win (6-3, 2-6, 6-4) to tie the match 2-2 at the time. Levy is 15-1 in singles play this season and has won 12 consecutive matches. Senior Bailey Standokes of Austin College was stellar in a road conference victory at the University of Dallas, helping the 'Roos win 7-0 and earning the clincher playing No. 1 singles. Standokes cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win in her singles match, and was also part of a 6-1 No. 2 doubles victory as Austin College won its third straight match, and fourth in its last five. Senior Kelsey Ground of Ozarks had an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 4 position against Monica Kennedy from University of Dallas. First-year Mackenzie Griffin of Schreiner picked up a win against McKenzie Carroll of McMurry, 6-3, 7-6 (7) to clinch the Mountaineers' 5-2 victory over the War Hawks.
