ZOE GARCIA OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Odem, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during meets swam Friday, October 7 to Saturday, October 15. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 2)
Garcia, swimming at the Southwestern Duals in Grapevine, Texas. won the 50 Free in a time of 25.33 and placed second in the 100 Fly in 1:00.74. She also led off the winning 400 Free relay with a time of 54.06.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior Gina Lynch of Colorado College was instrumental in both the Tigers' wins over Nebraska Wesleyan over the weekend. She brought home four victories during the Friday and Saturday competitions, winning the 200 free (2;01.12), 200 back (2:15.14) and lead off the winning 400 free relay in 55.82 on Friday. On Saturday she also won the 400 IM (5:04.83), and was second in the 100 back. Sophomore Madeline Vacula of Centenary highlighted Saturday's home conference dual home meet against McMurry, recording a pair of individual wins in the 200 and 1,000 Free. She swam a winning time of 2:04.67 in the 200 and finished the 1,000 in 11:13.35. First-year Maddy Rohrer of McMurry was apart of several victorious swims over the weekend at Centenary, including the 400 Medley Relay (freestyle leg in 57.77), the 200 Breaststroke (2:38.99), a personal best 100 Free (57.64) and the 200 Free Relay (25.88 anchor leg). She finished in second place in the 200 Free (2:05.89), 50 Free (26.29), 100 Breast (1:12.76) and swam a personal best anchor leg in the 400 Free Relay (57.44).
