ISABELLA LIPACIS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior outside hitter from Piedmont, Calif., has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 3 through Sunday, October 9. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 6)
Lipacis averaged 5.30 kills and 5.8 points per set and hit .342 as the Tigers posted a 2-1 week in conference play over the weekend. Her 21 kills in the 3-0 sweep of Southwestern on Saturday are tied for the ninth-most in a three-set match in conference history.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior setter Marisa Amarino of Trinity averaged eight assists as a three-rotation setter in the second-ranked Tigers' sweep of SCAC action last weekend in Colorado Springs, including 28 assists in Trinity's four-set victory in the 2021 SCAC title rematch over Southwestern. Amarino's efforts pushed the Tigers to a .272 team hitting percentage on the weekend (.292 against the Pirates), a significant increase over the team's season average of .246. In all three matches at Colorado College, Amarino led all players in assists and reached the 25-assist threshold. Senior outside hitter Maddy Schultz of Texas Lutheran was a force all week long tallying 48 kills (3.43 per set) and 54.5 points over four matches to lead TLU to a 3-1 week in her matches played (4-1 overall) including a huge win over Colorado College. Schultz is currently second in the SCAC in kills. Senior outside hitter/right side Trinity Atkins of St. Thomas stepped up this weekend to post an impressive 27 kills, averaging 2.7 per set. Atkins, who totaled 31 points on the weekend, and her Celt teammates picked up a crucial win against Schreiner to keep them on pace for qualifying for the SCAC tournament.
