Georgia Mullins, Colorado College, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 3)

GEORGIA MULLINS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior middle hitter from Olathe, Kansas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, March 1 through Sunday, March 7. It is the second consecutive week she has won the award.

Mullins hit .510 and averaged 3.38 kills per set to lead Colorado College to back-to-back victories over No. 1 Trinity last weekend. In Friday's series opener, she hit .625 with 10 kills on an error-free 16 attacks as CC posted the program's second victory over an opponent ranked No. 1 in the AVCA Division III Coaches Top 25 Poll. It marked the fifth time in her career that Mullins recorded a hitting percentage of .625 or higher during a match in which she had double-digit swings. She also had a hand in five blocked shots and recorded two digs and two assists. During Saturday's come-from-behind 3-2 victory, Mullins put down a season-high 17 kills while hitting .455. She also recorded five digs and three assists, and factored in a pair of blocked shots.

For the season, Mullins leads the Tigers with a .315 hitting percentage and is third with an average of 2.59 kills per set. She also is first averaging 0.64 blocks per set.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior setter Ali Horton of Austin College had a strong weekend as the 'Roos swept Dallas in a pair of 3-0 matches to improve to 4-2 and extend their win streak to four matches. Horton led the 'Roos in assists in both matches, averaging 5.83 per-set, and added two service aces and 18 total digs for an average of 3.0 per-set. Sophomore outside hitter Kayla Lofland of Schreiner had 32 kills (3.56 per set) as the Mountaineers split a pair of conference matches against Southwestern. Lofland also had 33 digs. The 3-2 win in the second match on Friday was Schreiner's first against Southwestern since joining the conference prior to the 2013 season. Sophomore middle blocker Riley Brantley of Southwestern had 33 kills and finished with 37 total points in the Pirates' two matches against Schreiner. Senior outside hitter Annie Rose Leggett of Trinity led the top-ranked Tigers in several categories over the weekend and narrowly missed a triple-double with 10 kills, 11 digs, and nine aces in Saturday's match against No. 4 Colorado College. Sophomore outside hitter Paige Day of Texas Lutheran averaged 2.89 kills per set in the Bulldogs' 1-1 Saturday match record against Centenary. Day had 15 kills and 16 digs in the five-set loss in the early match. She added 11 kills and 11 digs in the four-set win. Day had 26 total kills on 85 attempts. She also served four aces. Junior middle hitter Dayjay Whyte of Dallas combined for 19 kills, including a season-best 11, in the Crusaders' second match against Austin College. Whyte also added three blocks in that outing.
