Benitez was crucial in helping the Pirates to two conference wins over the weekend on the road. Against Austin College, Benitez scored a game-high 18 points and went for her fourth double-double of the year with thirteen rebounds. In the Pirates match-up against Dallas, Benitez only needed sixteen minutes to score in the double digits (14), while also collecting six rebounds. On the week, she connected on 57.9 percent from the field and averaged 16.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.5 steals per game.
Junior forward Trinity Williams of Austin College had the strongest weekend of her ‘Roos career, averaging 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals-per-game while shooting 52.6 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from deep, and 71.4 percent from the free throw line in the team's two games. First-year forward Shyanne Phillps of Centenary averaged 13.5 points per game in two games over the weekend for the Ladies and scored a team-high 19 points against St. Thomas on Sunday as she reached double figures for the seventh time this season. She grabbed a game-high nine rebounds as she just missed a double-double and added two assists and a steal. Phillips shot 45.8 percent from the floor in the two games and 83.3 percent from the FT line with 12 rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Senior forward Destiny Mathews of Concordia averaged a double-double in a pair of games last weekend. In a 72-57 win over Schreiner, Mathews exploded for a career-high 18 rebounds to go along with 16 points. She then collected a team-high 22 points (11-14 FTM) with five boards and four assists in a home matchup with Trinity. Senior guard Adryan Alvarez of Dallas led the Crusaders in scoring once again this weekend, averaging 20.0 points per game, highlighted by reaching the 20-point plateau for the seventh time this season with 21 against TLU on Friday. Alvarez is now averaging a team-high 18.8 points per game, currently the third best in the SCAC. Junior guard Kylie Flippin of McMurry led the War Hawks to a pair of key SCAC victories last weekend at home, defeating Trinity on Friday and Schreiner on Sunday. Flippin averaged 16.0 points on 42.9 percent shooting and added 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. In the win over the Tigers, Flippin poured in a game-high 22 points, including 8-for-10 from the free throw line and grabbed seven rebounds, dished out two assists, grabbed two steals and added two blocks. Sophomore guard Abby Beene of Ozarks poured in a career-high 31 points against St. Thomas hitting 13-of-18 from the field, including 5-of-8 from the three-point line, while grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double. Against Colorado College, she hit a three-pointer to extend her streak of making a three in every game this season. For the week, she averaged 19.0 points and hit 53 percent from the field. Junior guard Amyia Bowie of St. Thomas was a playmaking force in leading the Celts to a pair of key home SCAC wins last weekend, averaging 7.0 points, 6.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds per game. Bowie is now second in the SCAC, averaging 4.7 assists per game on the season. Junior guard Lauren Sansano of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 weekend behind a 13.0 points per game on 50.0 percent shooting. She dished out a career-high nine assists against Dallas while shooting 100 percent from the field (5-of-5) and the line (6-of-6) and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds against Austin College. Trinity guard Josie Napoli of Trinity led the Tigers to a road weekend split in SCAC play, falling to McMurry before defeating Concordia. Napoli averaged 19.5 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game, shooting 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the field and 50 percent (5-for-10) from three-point range. She also converted 8-of-9 (88.9%) at the free throw line and averaged 4.0 rebounds per game. Napoli tied her career-high with 27 points on 8-of-10 shooting - 5-of-6 from three - to defeat Concordia on Sunday, adding five assists and four steals.
