LOUISVILLE, Ky - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released the 2023-24 Easton/NFCA Division III All-America Scholar Athletes Tuesday afternoon, and 72 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) student-athletes were recognized.
A remarkable 8,054 collegiate student-athletes captured Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2023-24 academic year. The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association’s seven membership categories (NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Junior College and High School - both weighted and unweighted).
The 72 SCAC athletes recognized are the most in softball league history. NCAA Division I led the way with 2,573 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2023-24, while Division III followed with 2,285.
SCAC Regular Season and Tournament Champions, Texas Lutheran posted an SCAC best 3.51 team GPA, tied for the 72nd best in all of Div. III and placed 15 individual athletes on the list. Honorees from TLU include; Caelee Clark, Ainsley Davis, Carlee Feris, Riley Futrell, Serena Gonzalez, Reagan Hillis, Kylee Jack, Reagan Jones, Annie Kay, Linzee Leal, Missy Mural, Sydney Ouellette, Olivia Perez, Izzie Stephens and Taylor Vannett.
SCAC Regular Season Champions, Texas Lutheran led the way with 16 student-athletes earning All-America Scholar honors. Honorees from TLU include; Baylee Chandler, Laura Hernandez, Reagan Hillis, Bailey Hudgeons, Kylee Jack, Reagan Jones, Annie Kay, Linzee Leal, Missy Muras, Sydney Ouellette, Olivia Prinz, Isabella Rodriguez, Isabella Stephens, Ashlyn Strother, Taylor Vannett and Kristen Williams.
Schreiner University matched TLU with 15 student-athletes earning NFCA Scholar accolades. Those Mountaineers include Payton Eubanks-Smith, Lauren Hoes, Lindsey Hoes, Riley Jamison, Kylynne Kusak, Kendall Lippold, Yadira Lopez, Celina Marchan, Valerine Mares, Johanna McKay, Kaitlyn Olivares, Haedyn Renslow, Laci Silva, Alina Tovar and Kearsten White.
Trinity University rounded out the top three SCAC squads with 12 student-athletes securing NFCA Scholar honors. It marks the second-straight year the Tigers have placed 10 or more athletes on the list. The 12 Tigers honored include, Cameron Bishop, Peyton Bowser, Marina Delaluna, Ashley Elizondo, Zoe Frausto, Josephine Koelewyn, Carsyn Lee, Abigial Miller, Heather Nugent, Brooke Porter, Samantha Tagawa and Sydney Watson.
Southwestern University and University of St. Thomas each placed 11 student-athletes on the prestigious list.
The Pirates include Tauryn Alexander, Hailey Arrington, Calle Collier, Jaydan Ewart, Kaydence Garza, Jodi Glenn-Millhouse, Riley Glenn-Millhouse, Meghan McCarthy, Emily Nevarez, Erica Otto and Sam Saenz.
Rebecca Archibald, Chloe Bennett, Gabrielle Davila, Lindsey Gonzalez, Taylor Hollins, Allison Hughes, Haley Lupian, Delayne Moreno, Mallarie Munson, Victoria Sossaman and Lauren Trott were the 11 Celts honored by the NFCA.
Centenary College rounded out the league’s contingent of honorees as the Ladies placed eight student-athletes on the list. Centenary athletes included Alyssa Akers, River Boultinghouse, Mackenzie Cox, Emma Crow, Mandy Hoback, Abigail Hodgson, Viviana Rivero and Emma Shepherd.
