MAXWELL MIMS OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior outfielder from Friendswood, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, March 27 through Sunday, April 2. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 8
Mims led the Pirates with a stout .529 (9-for-17) batting average last week, including a .615 on-base percentage and a .882 slugging percentage. Mims finished with two triples and two doubles among his nine hits, collecting eleven RBI and eleven runs scored.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior first baseman Tyler Post of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with a .500 batting average, going 6-for-12 during a four-game week, highlighted by a three-game series against SCAC opponent, St. Thomas. Post finished with one double, two home runs, six hits, seven RBI and six runs scored. Junior infielder David Saldana of Dallas led the Crusaders in a weekend series against Austin College. Saldana finished with a .500 batting average (5-for-10), three RBI and two runs scored. Senior catcher Gerardo Cardoza of Schreiner led the Mountaineers last weekend in the series against SCAC opponent Southwestern. Cardoza finished with a .692 batting average (9-for-13), three RBI and two runs scored. Junior outfielder Jack Peterson of Trinity led the Tigers in a weekend series against Centenary. Peterson finished with a .385 batting average (5-for13), two doubles, one home run, three RBI and four runs scored.
