TORI MONTEMAYOR OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior pitcher from Pearland, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 1 through Sunday, March 7.
Montemayor went a perfect 3-0 in the circle for Southwestern as the Pirates swept Dallas in the opening SCAC series for both teams. She put down 10 Crusaders on strikes, scattered 15 hits and allowed just four runs in 17 innings of work. Montemayor posted a 1.65 ERA, while averaging 4.12 strikeouts per seven innings in the series.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Hailee Leger of Centenary went 1-1 in the circle last week for the Crusaders. In her win over Austin College, she threw a complete game, striking out 11 batters and allowed just three hits and gave up zero earned runs. Senior Lindsey Longuet of St. Thomas got the win in the Celts first-ever SCAC win in program history last Friday. Longuet struck out six and allowed seven hits in seven innings of work allowing just three earned runs.
