CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars were announced Monday and 11 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes were recognized. Full Release
Overall, a total of 1,401 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor.
Southwestern University led the way among SCAC institutions with five Pirates being named to the list. Senior Leilani McDaniel was honored for the fourth consecutive season, while classmate Emily Campbell was tabbed for the third-straight year. Freshman Katherine Montgomery, Linsey Garza and Madison Miller made the list in their rookie campaigns.
Texas Lutheran University was represented by four golfers earning WGCA Scholar All-America honors. Seniors Summer Swift and Kaley Martin were honored for the fourth consecutive year, while freshman Bernadette Barringer and Samantha De La Rosa also earned the distinction.
Centenary College senior Erin Rostro earned the honor for the second time in her career, having also been honored as a sophomore and Trinity University freshman Joanna Kass was tabbed a WGCA Scholar All-American in her inaugural collegiate season.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
