ISABELLA VALENZUELA OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior on the women's golf team from League City, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning January 13.
The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.
Isabella is involved in numerous organizations on campus, devoting her free time off the golf course to seven different roles. These include co-founding the economics society, acting as a representative in the S.A.A.C and student government, holding executive positions in her sorority and the business club, working as an on-campus tour guide, and an analyst in Southwestern’s student finance program.
Of her current roles, her favorite projects on campus and in the community have come from fundraising for St. Jude Hospital through the Tri Delta Sorority, bringing back the graduation ceremony for December graduates, and connecting successful alumni with current students through the business club.
After graduation, Isabella plans to use her skills and degree in Economics to pursue a career in the finance industry.
