LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Centenary College second basemen Cole Collins and Southwestern University outfielder Maxwell Mims were named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for performances the week of February 14-20.
Collins, a junior, was key in the lone win Centenary had last week. He was a late entry in a game one loss to Alma, pinch running and scoring a run. In the nightcap, he was 3-for-3 (1.000) with all three hits going for extra bases, two doubles and a home run. He scored twice in the game for three on the day and drove in three.
Mims, a sophomore, was electrifying in Southwestern's season opener, hitting 2-for-5 with a pair of triples, three RBIs, and a run scored. He followed that up with a 1-for-2 performance in the following game as North Park pitched around him, drawing three walks, stealing two bases, and scoring two runs. For the week, Mims posted a 1.000 slugging percentage, .636 on-base percentage, and .429 batting average.
The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its 10th season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors.
Collins and Mims are the first SCAC student-athletes to garner National Team of the Week honors since Mims received the honor during week eight of last season.
