SHERMAN, Texas -- The second-seeded and 45th-ranked Southwestern University women made quick work of seventh-seeded University of Dallas, defeating the Crusaders 5-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Championship quarterfinals Thursday afternoon on the Jordan Family Courts at the Russell Tennis Center on the campus of Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Southwestern improved its record to 13-9 and will face the winner of third-seeded Colorado College and sixth-seeded Texas Lutheran on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals at the indoor courts at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on the campus of Southern Methodist University. University of Dallas finishes the 2024 campaign with a 0-14 record.
Walkovers at No. 3 doubles as well as No. 6 singles and No. 5 singles, left Southwestern needing just a pair of 8-0 doubles win to secure the match and advance into the SCAC semifinals.
Daryl Locke and Kimberly Duncan earned an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Erika Synoski and Mary Young secured the clinching point at the top doubles line with an 8-1 win.
