Breanna Steele, Southwestern University, Women's Track Athlete of the Week (Week 1)

BREANNA STEELE OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Happy Valley, Ore., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, February 24 through Sunday, March 2. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 1

Competing at the Southwestern/CenTex Invitational, Steele won the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:43.77, which is currently the nation's leading time in that event.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Chloe Weathers of Ozarks finished third overall in the 5000 meter with a school record time of 18:36.54 at the Hendrix College Invitational. First-year Quadetra Wilburn of St. Thomas led the Celts to a new school record and win in the 4x100 relay, clocking in at 47.61. She then secured another victory in the 100 meters, breaking the tape at 12.44. First-year Ally Leonesio of Dallas ran a beautiful and well executed race in the 5000 meters and broke a lifetime PR with a finish of 21:58 at the Southwestern/CenTex Invitational. Sophomore Annette Smith of Trinity ran a new personal best and TU school record in the women's 800 as her time of 2:17.34 won the Southwestern/CenTex Invitational. She also ran on the winning 4x400 relay team (4:00.9).
