RYLEIGH ERICKSON OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a graduate student from McAllen, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Monday, October 21 through Tuesday, October 22. SCAC Golf Release (Week 6)
Erickson earned medalist honors at the Bash at the Bend, which was hosted by Hardin-Simmons at the Cypress Bend Golf Resort in Many, Louisiana. She finished two shots clear of her teammate, Rachel Harris, firing rounds of 80 and 83 to take top honors with a two-day total of 163 (+19) and lead the Pirates to the team title over the host school. Erickson led the 43-player field with 20 pars.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Cameron Frazier of St. Thomas placed fourth overall in the 30-person field with a +10 finish (80-74) at the University of Houston-Victoria Fall Classic. Senior Samantha Miethke of Concordia (Texas) finished tied for fifth at the Bash at the Bend, ending the event with a two-day total of 174 (84-84). First-year Belle Asbury of Texas Lutheran paced the Bulldogs on day two with an 87 (+15) in Tuesday's final round of the Bash at the Bend. She finished the tournament in a tie for eighth place (+31) for her second consecutive top ten finish. First-year Hayley Crowder of Centenary and sophomore Abby Yanta of Schreiner both carded scores of 178 to finish tied for 11th at the Bash at the Bend in Many, Louisiana. Crowder had scores of 91 and 87 and Yanta posted rounds of 90 and 88 as both finished at +34. First-year Raelynn Leifeste of McMurry led the War Hawks at the Bash at the Bend with a 26th place individual finish after rounds of 96 and 97 left her with a two-day total of 193.
